Everythings on the Up and Up
I signed up for a class this semester. I'm not really looking forward to it but I have to have a humanities/fine art credit to boost my ranking points for the nursing school waiting list.
I hope my lack of enthusiasm doesn't effect my grade too badly. I signed up for the Philosophy distance learning course to achieve this, but I'm hoping to slip into humanities during add-drop because I'd much rather study a broader subject. While philosophy seems interesting, I've tried reading philosopher's works and find them rather dry. Perhaps I just like talking about my own philosophy instead of listening to someone else's. Ha ha!
I'm trying a new diet in the interest of spending less money on food. It is the brown-rice and bean diet. Basically I'm just eating rice and beans with a few vegetables mixed in like tomatoes and spinach and such, and then I pour on the olive oil to make sure I'm getting those good fats. Plus I have a serving of fruit and some kefir each day to round out my diet a bit. There's a method of cooking beans in one of my cook books that is supposed to dramatically reduce the gas effect. It seems to be working. For those of you who are interested, it involves soaking the uncooked beans and rice overnight in a mixture of water and whey culture. The bacteria in the whey culture pre-digest the indigestible portion for you. I've done this for about a week now and have loads of energy, and will probably only spend about $5-10 a week on food.
I'm hoping to save up money for a cruise up-grade. Bob's Mom has arranged for us to go on a cruise with her and Bob's Grandma in December. The last time we went I was very jealous of the balcony room that Bob's Mom shared with Grandma. It'll cost us about $400 to upgrade to a balconey room. With the savings on food I should be able to do that in about 2 months. We'll see how it goes.
Time to get back to work... : )
